Instant Pot Chili

Instant Pot Chili

Instant Pot chili is a thick, hearty bowl of beef, beans, and tomatoes with bold, smoky spices, ready in a fraction of the usual time. Pressure cooking melds the flavors as if it simmered for hours. It is the ultimate cozy, crowd-pleasing dinner topped with cheese and sour cream.

Ingredients

  • 700 g ground beef
  • 2 cans kidney beans
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1.5 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin

Instructions

  1. Set the Instant Pot to saute and brown the beef with the onion, then drain.
  2. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, and tomato paste and cook 1 minute.
  3. Add the beans, tomatoes, and broth, scraping the bottom well.
  4. Seal and pressure cook on high for 15 minutes.
  5. Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes.
  6. Stir, season, and serve with cheese and sour cream.

💡 Chef's tip

Use the saute function to brown the beef and bloom the spices first; this fond and toasted-spice base is where most of the flavor comes from.

Pressure cooking forces the spices deep into the beef and beans in minutes, giving the long-simmered depth of stovetop chili without the wait.
