Easy Guacamole

Easy Guacamole

This easy guacamole is bright, chunky, and packed with the creamy richness of perfectly ripe avocados. Fresh lime, onion, and cilantro bring zing and freshness to every scoop. Serve it with tortilla chips, pile it on tacos, or use it as a fresh topping for grilled meats.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 lime
  • 1/4 red onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Halve 3 ripe avocados, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a wide bowl.
  2. Add the juice of 1 lime right away and mash with a fork to your preferred texture, leaving some chunks for body.
  3. Stir in a quarter cup of finely diced onion, 1 minced clove of garlic, and 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro.
  4. Season with half a teaspoon of salt and taste, adjusting lime and salt until the flavors are bright and balanced.
  5. For a little heat, mix in a finely chopped jalapeno with the seeds removed.
  6. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or cover the surface tightly and chill for up to a few hours before serving.

💡 Chef's tip

Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before storing, because removing the air contact is what keeps it from turning brown.

Mashing only half the avocado and folding in the rest in chunks gives guacamole its signature texture, instead of a uniform paste.
