Classic Grilled Cheese

Golden, crunchy bread and a molten cheese center - the comfort sandwich done exactly right.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread
  • 60 g cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp butter

Instructions

  1. Spread mayo on the outside faces of the bread.
  2. Layer cheese between the slices.
  3. Cook in a pan over medium-low heat until golden.
  4. Flip, brown the other side, then slice and serve.

💡 Chef's tip

Cook it low and slow - high heat browns the bread before the cheese has a chance to melt.

Spreading mayonnaise instead of butter on the outside of the bread browns more evenly and crisps harder, because it has a higher smoke point and spreads cold.
