No-Bake Energy Balls

No-Bake Energy Balls

No-Bake Energy Balls are bite-sized snacks made from rolled oats, nut butter, honey, and mix-ins like chocolate chips and seeds, pressed together into convenient little rounds. They are chewy, naturally sweet, and packed with energy, perfect for a quick breakfast, post-workout boost, or lunchbox treat. Keep a batch in the fridge for the whole family to grab on the go.

Ingredients

  • 150 g rolled oats
  • 100 g peanut butter
  • 60 g honey
  • 40 g chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine about 160 grams (2 cups) of rolled oats with ground flaxseed, a handful of chocolate chips, and any seeds you like such as chia or sunflower.
  2. Add about 130 grams (half cup) of natural peanut butter or almond butter and 85 grams (one quarter cup) of honey or maple syrup, plus a splash of vanilla extract for flavor.
  3. Stir everything together with a sturdy spoon until the mixture is evenly combined and holds together when pressed, adding a little more nut butter if it seems too dry.
  4. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes so the mixture firms up and becomes easier to handle.
  5. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and roll each between your palms into balls about 3 centimetres (just over one inch) across.
  6. Place the finished balls on a tray or in a container, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes so they set firmly before eating.
  7. Store the energy balls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week, or freeze them for longer keeping.

💡 Chef's tip

Chill the mixture for about 20 minutes before rolling, because the nut butter and honey firm up when cold and make the sticky dough far easier to shape into tidy balls that hold together.

Chilling the mixture for 20 minutes before rolling is the trick to balls that hold their shape instead of sticking to your hands.
