Air Fryer Chicken Tenders

Air Fryer Chicken Tenders

Air fryer chicken tenders are golden, crispy, and juicy inside with a fraction of the oil of deep frying. The breadcrumb coating crisps up beautifully in the circulating hot air. They are a fast, kid-friendly dinner that beats any frozen version.

Ingredients

  • 700 g chicken tenderloins
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1.5 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • as needed oil spray

Instructions

  1. Toast the breadcrumbs in a dry pan until golden, then mix with the garlic powder and paprika.
  2. Set up flour, beaten eggs, and the seasoned breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat each tender in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
  4. Arrange in a single layer in the air fryer basket and spray with oil.
  5. Air fry at 200C (400F) for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway.
  6. Cook until golden and the chicken reaches 75C (165F), then serve.

💡 Chef's tip

Spray the breaded tenders lightly with oil before cooking; this helps the coating crisp and turn golden instead of looking dry and powdery.

Toasting the breadcrumbs in a dry pan before breading is the trick to deep golden tenders, since the air fryer alone does not brown raw crumbs as evenly.
