Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

Crispy on the outside and tender inside, air fryer sweet potato fries are a healthier take on a favorite side. The air fryer crisps them with just a little oil, so they are far lighter than the deep-fried version. Serve them with a dipping sauce as a snack or side.

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • to taste salt

Instructions

  1. Cut the sweet potatoes into even fries about 1 cm thick.
  2. Toss with the cornstarch first, then the oil, paprika, and salt.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 190C (375F).
  4. Arrange in a single layer, working in batches if needed.
  5. Air fry for 15 to 18 minutes, shaking twice, until crisp and golden.
  6. Season with a little more salt and serve hot with a dip.

💡 Chef's tip

Cut the fries to an even thickness and do not crowd the basket, or they will steam instead of crisping.

Tossing the cut fries with a teaspoon of cornstarch before the oil is the trick to a crisp shell, since sweet potatoes are naturally moist and tend to go soft.
